After I finished reading, I had a better understanding of open education. In essence, open education provides students with a more equitable way to ensure that every student has the right to higher education. According to the examples in the article, even in today’s North American continent, more than half of the students are still unable to enter higher education because of economic problems. This phenomenon will be more pronounced in developing countries. So how to build a more effective open learning environment? According to the description in the article, students should be allowed to build their own course content settings, including the setting of exams and learning goals. This can more motivate students to learn. From my personal experience, I can feel that in high school During this period, our teachers will let us build the content of the classroom, teachers will also ask us to create our own problems, and we need to find the answers to our own problems. This teaching method also better drives our enthusiasm for learning. On the other hand I also learned about data redlines in education. I can understand that in many countries and regions, governments or public organizations restrict the information searched on the Internet, and many contents cannot be displayed. According to the description of the article, many community college students in the United States are treated unequally. Compared with those in normal higher education, community college students are limited in data search. In my personal understanding, in many cases , the shaping of students is also influenced by regulators to a certain extent, and what kind of students a government or institution needs to work for is influenced by its ideology to a certain extent. This will greatly limit the individual’s thinking and growth, which is a great constraint for the individual. On the other hand, we need to more consideration on digital redlining. Can we imagine that if the Uvic library provide the articile without license? if we find that there is no license at Uvic, this is an inconvenient for most of students at Uvic. And this will make higher education get hurt. Students can not access into library and get material they need. If you need to write a paper, you will need more time to find resources in other ways. It will take more time and possible get a lower quality assignment
